I decided to start a business of my own and it’s definitely not only about the money…
It’s about the need to prove yourself you can do whatever you decide to do, and to prove you can run one project right from the start up to the point when you can finally say: well, I did it!
Regarding your offer to write about something in particular: can you please write something about bloging and how to make a more or less regular business of it… Thank you!

I think passion is so very important. Without passion, your work becomes "just a paycheck" and your enterprise is a reflection of you. If you only do what you can to get by, then you wont build a prosperous venture.

I'm proud to say that I have failed miserably at things I had no interest or passion in and yet succeeded exceptionally in many areas of life where I had real Vigor and heart.

Do what you love and make it your work.

Just My Two Cents.

Love for the "subject" of the business will only get you so far... That's because you end up doing so many other things that aren't quite "on topic".

I think successful entrepreneurs have that passion for the business, but that they also have a passion for entrepreneurship!

Great post - right on the mark! I have started six companies -- run several others - and coached more than 40 start-ups. It is high risk - high reward. You hold you own future in your hands. It can give you a wonderful life and a lot of freedom -- but also a good deal of stress in the early stages. As sort of an example, I currently do a lot of public speaking around the world -- and after I finish a seminar I often get people that come up to me and say: "I would sure love to do what you do for a living, I've always wanted to be a professional speaker." I used to try to explain my business to those folks - but instead I simply wrote a very detailed blog on exactly what it takes become a very successful speaker/trainer and I tell them to go read the article -- and if they are still interested to call me and I will do everything I can to help them. 99% of the people never call back... once they realize the truly hard work that must go into this career -- much the same with being an entrepreneur! BTW -- if you are interested here is a link to my blog on what it takes to be a great speaker -- an awful lot of it is really on target for what it takes to build ANY kind of business: http://johnspence.com/blog/?p=21

John Spences last blog post..<a href="http://johnspence.com/reading_list.php" rel="nofollow">John's suggested reading list</a>
