Here is a quick post for all of you wondering if you should become an entrepreneur or not.
Most of y’all that read this site either want to be an entrepreneur or you’re just looking for some information to help you get rich quick. And that’s cool but what about if you’re not made to be an entrepreneur. I mean ask yourself this does everybody that wants to be rich actually become rich? Does everybody that wants the perfect body actually get the perfect body? the Answer is no Just look at Britney Spears during her concert at MTV. Anyway, I want to write this quick post to open your mind on what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and I want to get your mind flowing to see if being in business for yourself is really what you want to do.
First of all I believe being an entrepreneur is the quickest and most fulfilling way to get rich. You work hard and in the end you play hard, and you don’t have to wait for someone to tell you when you can play because as a person running your own business you are your own boss. I’m sure that sounds good, ” I am my own boss” but do you really think you can handle that. I don’t know if you’ve had the luxury to shadow a working professional but running your own business is extremely hard work. Can you get rich, yes… Sometimes even overnight if you start the right business. But for the most part its hard work that will test your will to win day in and day out.
Starting your own business means you must take care of each and every aspect of getting the business up and running. this means you have to be able to control your stress levels and make very crucial decisions even while you’re stressed and tired. You have to be the boss, the worker, the promoter, the advertiser, the pr guy, and everything else. Its time consuming in the most extreme way and sadly to say Most people do not posses the skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur.
Building your business from the ground up is like buying stocks in a great company while they are going through rough times. You might have an idea that it can do good, but you’re not certain. And this means that there’s a possibility that everything could be ruined. Can you still maintain your lifestyle while trying to be an entrepreneur. In the beginning stages of your business you will most likely be using a lot of your own money to finance your business. This means you’re going to need an extra source of income so you and your family can still live and get by day to day. Yes you could use credit cards but then you might mess up your credit, and that’ll hurt you, your family, and your business. So please make sure you’re ready financially before you start a business.
Here’s one last thing I want to talk about before I let you go so that you can start brainstorming reasons why you should start your own business or reasons why you shouldn’t. Before you begin trying to be the next business man or woman you should first identify why you want to start your business. I can tell you that the majority of business owners that are successful have a love for their company higher than the amount of money they make but because its in a field of interest, saw it grown from scratch and they purely love what they are doing. The point is if you want to start your own business just for the money you might want to reconsider what you’re doing because there are so many different ways to get rich. You can make a million dollars by starting a few blogs. you make make a million dollars by investing in stocks. Just don’t let money be your only motivator when deciding to start your own business or not.
If you guys want me to write about something in particular such as ways to get rich, then write me or leave a comment and I’ll send out a detail post just for you and your answer. Good luck and have fun becoming an entrepreneur.

Great post - right on the mark! I have started six companies — run several others - and coached more than 40 start-ups. It is high risk - high reward. You hold you own future in your hands. It can give you a wonderful life and a lot of freedom — but also a good deal of stress in the early stages. As sort of an example, I currently do a lot of public speaking around the world — and after I finish a seminar I often get people that come up to me and say: “I would sure love to do what you do for a living, I’ve always wanted to be a professional speaker.” I used to try to explain my business to those folks - but instead I simply wrote a very detailed blog on exactly what it takes become a very successful speaker/trainer and I tell them to go read the article — and if they are still interested to call me and I will do everything I can to help them. 99% of the people never call back… once they realize the truly hard work that must go into this career — much the same with being an entrepreneur! BTW — if you are interested here is a link to my blog on what it takes to be a great speaker — an awful lot of it is really on target for what it takes to build ANY kind of business: http://johnspence.com/blog/?p=21

Love for the “subject” of the business will only get you so far… That’s because you end up doing so many other things that aren’t quite “on topic”.
I think successful entrepreneurs have that passion for the business, but that they also have a passion for entrepreneurship!

I think passion is so very important. Without passion, your work becomes “just a paycheck” and your enterprise is a reflection of you. If you only do what you can to get by, then you wont build a prosperous venture.
I’m proud to say that I have failed miserably at things I had no interest or passion in and yet succeeded exceptionally in many areas of life where I had real Vigor and heart.
Do what you love and make it your work.
Just My Two Cents.

I decided to start a business of my own and it’s definitely not only about the money…
It’s about the need to prove yourself you can do whatever you decide to do, and to prove you can run one project right from the start up to the point when you can finally say: well, I did it!
Regarding your offer to write about something in particular: can you please write something about bloging and how to make a more or less regular business of it… Thank you!
